Back To The Drawing Board

One of the most frustrating things that can happen is when things don't turn out the way I see them in my head and I have to go back and start again. I keep thinking about all the time I've spent working on a particular item and then the many more hours that I'll be spending when I start over. All I want to do is get it finished and move on to something else. The thought is enough to make me procrastinate.

Originally, I wasn't going to post these photos because that's how much I dislike (understatement) how this turned out.  But it's not very often that you get to see the process and failures when it comes to any kind of art. So here is the heart that will probably be in the bin by the time you read this

To end, I'll leave you with something that I don't hate:

Teeth!

What's On My Mind

Maintaining motivation is one of the hardest things to do. Whenever I start working on an idea I never end up finishing it. One of the main culprits for me is self doubt, which results in the lowering of confidence and then eventually leads to me giving up. I think the doubt really comes from worrying about what others are going to think of the final product. Will they think it's excellent, or absolute garbage? It's these moments when I seek the opinions others, more for reassurance that I'm heading in the right direction. At the end of the day, what I need to try and remember is to trust my instincts and to ask myself if I like the design/finished product because that essentially is what will bring my confidence back.

Anyway, here are some things that are currently inspiring what I'm working on:

This wooden brooch of the pelvis that you can find here

I don't think I'll ever stop being in love with heart pendants. Here's one that I think is perfect.

This bracelet is awesome! I think it's a combination of it being slightly gruesome + the colour that does it for me. It's just a shame that it's not available and more.

This ribcage ring!

I'm including this Femur Bone pendant because I love the simplicity of it

And finally, even though it's an animal, I'm leaving it here anyway because it's too amazing not to.
